DEVELOPERS REVEAL DETAILS ABOUT THEIR AMBITIOUS NEW LUXURY RESIDENTIAL & HOSPITALITY HIGH-RISE IN DOWNTOWN DENVER
Designed by Carlos Ott, the 90-Story Tower at 650 17th Street Will Reflect the Unique Character and Lifestyle of the Mile-High City
DENVER (September 27, 2017) – New York-based real estate investment and development firm Greenwich Realty Capital (GRC) today announced details about its planned high-rise at 650 17th Street in downtown Denver. The 1,000,000+ square foot mixed-use tower will be comprised of 248 luxury condominium residences with extensive amenities, a boutique hotel, 22,000 square feet of retail space, and over 500 parking spaces. At 90 stories, it will be the tallest building in Denver, offering unparalleled mountain and city views from the residences, all of which will occupy the uppermost floors.
“Denver is at an exciting moment in its history and we believe our development plan for 650 17th Street will help further catalyze the evolution of downtown while respecting the essential character of the city,” said Michael Ursini, a co-founder and Managing Partner of GRC.
The firm has hired Carlos Ott, an internationally acclaimed architect, to design 650 17th Street. Mr. Ott, who has been practicing since the early 1970s, is known for giving great attention to the cultural and geographic context of projects. His global portfolio ranges from luxury residential towers and prestigious commercial office buildings to high-profile cultural complexes.
“What makes Denver’s lifestyle so appealing is this amazing combination of urban culture surrounded by absolutely stunning natural beauty,” said Stephen Drew, co-founder and Managing Partner of GRC. “Our direction to Carlos is that his architectural design for 650 17th Street should reflect this unique lifestyle and elevate it. We envision a contemporary tower where residents and hotel guests wake up to panoramic mountain and city views, relax on terraces surrounded by those views, walk to work downtown, and easily jump in their car to go skiing or mountain-biking.” Extensive indoor and outdoor amenities at 650 17th Street are expected to include multiple terraces and pools, a spa with sauna and steam rooms, and a fitness center. Planned sporting amenities include a half-court basketball court, a bowling alley, and a game lounge with a pool table, foosball, and shuffle board. Children will enjoy a playroom with a custom climbing gym. Bicycle storage, pet grooming, day care, art consultation, and butler service are among many other planned offerings. Design of 650 17th Street will be energy efficient and environmentally conscious.
GRC is taking a collaborative approach to the development of the property. “Over the past year, we have met with Denver city officials, civic leaders, and business people to ensure that we take local priorities into account,” said Ursini. “Establishing strong working relationships in Denver is of paramount importance to us – not just for 650 17th Street, but also because we plan to make more investments in Denver in coming years.”
In addition to Carlos Ott, whose firm is based in Canada, GRC has retained Denver-based professionals, including Davis Partnership Architects, which will be the architect of record; S2 Partners, the project controls consultant, Tom Ragonetti of Otten Johnson Robinson Neff + Ragonetti PC and Bruce Likoff of Bryan Cave LLP for legal representation. Other industry- leading team members include Thornton Tomasetti, Langan, Hensel Phelps and PCL. New York City-based Crown Architecture and Consulting is the executive architect and owner’s representative.
